Bookings Guide

Bookings are the records in Younium keeping information about order events, it stores the event with key metrics. Examples of events when a booking is created is when you:

  • Activate a new order
  • Change an order
  • Cancel an order
  • Renew an order
  • Do a price adjustment
  • Set a milestone on an order

Understanding Bookings

Booking Types

The categorization of an event, is recorded as a data point in the booking, where the three types are:

  • New: A new order is made
  • Change: A change to an existing order is made (records all Change Types)
  • Churn: A cancellation to an order

Change Type

If the booking type is Change, then the change type specifies what kind of change it is, these are the change types:

  • None: When a change is made that does not affect the CMRR
  • Upsell: When a change is made that increases CMRR
  • Downsell: When a change is made that decreases CMRR (a part of the churn metric)
  • Renewal: An order is renewed
  • Price Adjustment: The price is adjusted, when we do not want the change to turn into an upsell or downsell and affect the CMRR
  • Milestone: A milestone is reached and recorded on the order
  • Canceled delivery: We have not delivered the order because the delivery was canceled
  • Associated Charge: An associated charge has been added to an order (module separately activated)

Account Category

This is indicating what stage of the customer lifecycle the account is in, recorded as:

  • New: when an order is activated and is the first one for the account
  • Existing: An order is created or changed for an existing account (an account with one or more orders already active)
  • Lost: when an order is canceled and the customer is lost (the last/only order on an account is canceled)

Classification

The classification of the booking used in Insights for example the different CMRR metrics. Dependent on the type of change as well as the Account Category.

  • Contraction: Downsell to an existing account
  • Expansion: Upsell to an existing account
  • Lost Customer: Cancellation of the last order for an account
  • New Customer: First booking created for a new account
  • No Change: No change in value

Example:

Looking at this booking, we have:

mceclip0.png

CMRR: The contracted monthly recurring revenue amount that will be effective from 2021-06-01 (see effective date)

One Time Fees: One-Off charges on the order, here we have 200 SEK, and this will not affect any metrics

TCV: The Total Contract Value - a calculated total amount of the CMRR times the length of the contract plus the one-time fees. We can see that the contract has a length of 36 months (1000 x 36 + 200 = 36 200)

EMRR: If there is usage on the order and an estimate of monthly usage, the estimated monthly recurring revenue will be affected. For example, if there is a usage charge with 10 SEK per quantity, with an estimated usage of 100, the EMRR will be 2000 SEK (1000 + 100 x 10)
